PERIOD
PERIOD is the largest youth-run NGO in women’s health in the US. As a designer in their New York office, I worked alongside a core team of volunteers and Co-Founder Nadya Okamoto to create graphics for the California Tampon Tax petition, logos for Period Inc. branches, and illustrated editorial pieces for Period Inc.’s new media outlet, The Rag.
Did you know menstrual products are still taxed as luxury items in 30 U.S. states?
In 2018 along with a team of volunteers at PERIOD, I created graphics for an online petition calling to repeal California’s tax on menstrual products. We reached over 12,000 signatures on change.org. On January 2020, a bill was passed so California residents do not have to pay taxes on menstrual products until 2022.
